My dog blog this week is all about my trip to the dentist. Last week, I had my first dental cleaning. I am not sure why I had to go, I think my teeth are just fine! What is a little tartar? It adds some color to my smile. Well, Mom disagreed and I should note that she thinks my breath is pretty stinky as well.
Now, some background on getting my teeth cleaned. Mom started brushing my teeth on a weekly basis when I was about one year old. I think she started brushing my teeth because I had developed tartar on my teeth pretty early and she wanted my smile to be pearly white. I have a love/ hate relationship with the toothbrush. If I see it coming out of the drawer, I hightail it out of there and hide under the bed which really annoys my mom. Once I am caught and actually am getting my teeth brushed, I kind of like it. I smack my gums and enjoy the taste of the toothpaste, but that doesn’t stop me from avoiding the experience each and every time!
All that teeth brushing did not solve my tartar problem however, so mom began her quest for a solution. She inquired at the vet the cost of getting my teeth cleaned there. Well, that was a shocker! Not only was it really expensive but I would also have to be put to sleep. That does not sound like a good idea to me! So as she continued to research alternatives, mom had a chance meeting with Andy from Breath Savers Pet Dental Care at the OC Pet Expo. Breath Savers offers a teeth cleaning service without the need to put me to sleep. Well, mom decided to give it a try. So last week off I went…I have to say that I was a superstar! I let the man give me a thorough cleaning and was not too squirmy. Now my teeth are pearly white and mom is super happy. My breath smells good too!
Now I know that I am going to have to go back on a regular basis but I think it will be worth to keep mom happy!
