Hello everybody. For those of you who do not remember, I am Luther’s older and wiser brother Earl. I don’t get as much attention as Luther because I am a bit more reserved in personality and I tend to shy away from the spotlight. I only feel the need to speak when I have something important to say, unlike Luther who never shuts up. He even talks in his sleep! I should know because I am in the crate directly across from him.
Today I am here to discuss my new role as Luther’s “stand-in”. As Luther has been having some growing pains (I think the fame is going to his head), I have been called in to save the day. There are certain venues where Luther tends to get a little grumpy with other dogs getting into his space. He will curl his lip and growl or he will hide under the table. Either way, we can’t have Luther behaving this way at our book signing events. This is where I come in. I am now the official “stand-in” for those events where there are going to be a lot of dogs. Luther does well at the bookstores with people, but the pet stores will now be my job. I don’t mind meeting other dogs and sharing my space. I know I don’t exactly look like Luther but as we are both big Bulldogs (to be honest I weigh more) and are brothers, it is logical I should help out in this capacity.
In addition to being more reserved than Luther, I also tend to get a little anxious in new places. My anxiety translates into panting and drooling when I am out in public. No big deal! After a while, the panting subsides and I relax and hang out by Mom’s side. I try really hard to be cute so people will come up and pet me! I also like to put on my super sad Bulldog face that always gets me some attention! Basically I am a more handsome version of Luther…. Luther and my Mom have been hard at work “modifying” his behavioral issues. As this training appears to be working, I realize my new job will probably be short-lived but I am going to enjoy the attention while it lasts!
