Hi all, let’s start this dog blog by explaining what TMI is (for those of you who don’t know what this means), TMI is “too much information”. It is truly amazing to me the things I hear at the dog park. Stories told to my Mom by complete strangers. You ask how I hear these things? Well I don’t really play at the park instead I stay close to my Mom and her friend Kari. I basically keep their perimeter safe, and after hearing some of these stories, their perimeter needs protecting!!!
I’m not saying that people shouldn’t share stories at the park but there should be some filter; especially if you just met someone and don’t even know their name. You wouldn’t believe the things I have heard!!! Messy divorces, cheating spouses, psychiatric diagnoses, kids behaving badly, and these are the tame topics.
The dog park is full of people who have the potential to become great friends. Don’t scare off anyone with your TMI. This means that if someone decides to return to the park because you made them nervous then they won’t bring their four-legged friends back and that’s one less dog to play with my brother Luther and his BFF Max. That is not acceptable! I don’t want to be the one who has to entertain those two…
My advice, wait until you have a few visits under your belt before “over-sharing”. At that point the people will already like you, feel obligated to listen, and thus stay at the park which means their dogs will play with Luther and Max. Max and Luther will then get tired, and leave me alone.
It’s a win-win!!! – Earl
