This dog blog is all about driving with dogs….So I might have mentioned this before but I love taking rides in the car, I mean what dog doesn’t it? However, I prefer sitting in the front seat so I can see where we are going. I am a very curious dog after all! I also love to hang my head out the window and get all those great smells in my nose. As a Beagle mix, my nose is my key skill set. I have been happily Mom’s co-pilot since arrival in San Diego.
There is one thing; however, I do that annoys Mom. I always try to crawl onto Mom’s lap when we get close to home. I always know when we make the turn onto our street (I am a very smart dog!). This habit seemed fine with Mom when I was an 8- pound puppy but I am now a solid 32- pound dog and I get the sense that Mom does not like when I do this. I don’t understand why this annoys her because I don’t interfere with her driving and I am very excited when we pull into our parking space.
Well, last week everything changed. Mom installed this weird device in the backseat and has been hooking me up to it when we go places. What is this? I can no longer reach the front seat and am completely confined! I can’t see anything. I do not like this at all! What did I do to deserve this? Well I let Mom know in no uncertain terms that I am unhappy with this new situation by barking constantly while we are in the car. Mom is never happy when I bark in her ear like that but she has not stopped belting me in.
So, it has been a week since this new rule went into effect and Mom is not giving in to my constant barking and I have not stopped barking in the car. I think this is the beginning of an epic battle for control. I wonder who will give in first me or Mom?
