Luther and I attended our friend Rascal’s 1st dog birthday party this week and had such a great time. All of our friends were at the dog park to help him celebrate. What a great turnout! There were treats for us and the humans too! Actually, I was more interested in the human food than the doggie treats – not a surprise right? Don’t worry the human food was set up outside of the dog park so I could only stare at it longingly….maybe I whined a little too.
Luther and I’s birthdays are four days apart so for the last 2 years we have celebrated our birthdays together at our local dog park. Our Moms go all out for the event. Luther’s birthday is actually on New Year’s Eve Day while mine is four days later in early January so we celebrate on his actual birthday. Mom thinks that is perfect. We have our party during the afternoon so that all the dogs are nice and tired on New Year’s Eve. For some reason, our humans think it is important to go out and celebrate on New Year’s Eve. I don’t get why that is such a special day, it seems like a normal day to us (except of course for our party)!
Our birthday party is the event in the neighborhood with toys and treats for us dogs and coffee and muffins for our humans. Rascal’s Mom made really awesome food for the humans and I overheard my Mom telling Aunt Carey that they were going to have to step it up a notch next year in order to compete with Rascal’s Mom. Somehow I think that means alcohol for the humans as I heard something about “Irish” coffee!
I think that is great that our humans celebrate our birthdays and I am hoping that our other doggie friends start having more birthday parties. We would love to celebrate more often…hint hint! See you around the dog park!
