Let me tell you about the day my Mom and I had recently. My Mom and I were pretty tired from our latest road trip promoting the book so we decided that a day off was in order! Mom sent my brother Earl and I off to get our dog baths while she ran some errands, the most important errand being getting the car cleaned. People tend to forget that us dogs with short hair tend to shed a lot!! Sounds like a perfectly normal day right? Well we were just getting started!
Mom came to pick us up at the vet office after her errands and our baths when the day took a radical turn. First of all, my brother Earl decided that he needed to pee right there in the lobby of the vet office. This was a very big deal as Earl is even bigger than I am and of course does not leave a puddle but a large lake behind! Mom was horrified and embarrassed about Earl’s accident and offered to clean up the mess. The vet office was not bothered at all because apparently this happens all the time (maybe not such a large puddle though!). As we made our escape, Earl naturally tracked his way through his own puddle of pee – Gross! Once outside, Mom made sure that we had an opportunity to go to the bathroom before we got into her very clean car but naturally Earl and I did not have to go.
About one minute into our drive home, Mom and I smelled something, and it was terrible! I leapt into action and flew into the front seat of the car. To this day, I am not sure how I managed to do that but I did not want to be near that smell. Yes you guessed right, Earl had pooped all over the back seat! Don’t forget that at approximately 120 pounds, Earl has poop that is proportional (Big!). We quickly parked and scrambled out of the car where Mom saw that Earl and I were covered in the good stuff. It was lucky that Mom had a car seat cover in the back which managed to capture the majority of the mess. It definitely pays to invest in a good car seat cover. Earl and I end up getting another bath, as did the car. While we all managed to survive the incident, Mom ended up looking quite frazzled by the end of it.
After all was cleaned up, we headed to the park for a much needed breath of fresh air. Naturally, I was quite reluctant to get back into that car but in the end had very little choice. The funniest part is that once at the park, Earl poops again. I couldn’t believe that he had anything left. I guess into anyone’s life a little poop must fall!
