Let me tell you the one thing I do not like about my normal week: Bath Time! For some reason, my mom insists that every week I need a bath. I am not sure why, I never look that dirty! Mom says that because I am a tan-colored dog that the dirt hides in plain sight. She also says that after a few times at the beach, I start to take on a unique odor! I think I smell just fine (remember that I am part Beagle so I usually like interesting smells!) But as I sleep in bed with mom, I am not sure that she has the same appreciation for smells as I do.
Bath time consists of a few important steps. First, there is actually the bath which because I am a decent size takes place in mom’s bathtub. Now, I do not really care for baths but I stand still while mom soaps me up and rinses me off. She always says that the look on my face is “Are you done yet?” After I get dried off, I spend the next 15 minutes running around the house like a crazy dog! I believe the speed helps me to dry faster, plus I love rubbing my ears all over the carpet. In my opinion, this is the best part of bath time. Next, after I am sufficiently dried off, mom brushes me. Now, unlike most dogs I do not care to be brushed but apparently I shed a lot! You should see all the hair that comes off me….
The worst part comes next: getting my teeth brushed. I really hate this part! Mom insists that I need my teeth brushed every week – something about bad breath and preventing vet dental bills as I get older. I do have to admit my teeth do look pretty good and I do enjoy eating some of the toothpaste. Lastly, my ears get cleaned with some special stuff from the vet. As I have long droopy hound ears, it is important to get them cleaned regularly.
Man, it takes a lot of work to look good all the time. Mom always looks a little tired after our bath time routine is complete. I am not sure why – I do all of the hard work!
