HI, my name is Max. Mom said I have to start earning my keep and write a dog blog. I have no idea what that is , but I figure that if Mom is writing about creating a funny dog book then I am going to write about what is most important, me! The following is a day in a dog’s life.
As you know, I am a Puggle and I will be three next January. I arrived to San Diego in a big silver flying thing. I don’t remember much about the trip because I was only 8 weeks old, but I do remember it was loud! I am never travelling that way again; I much prefer cars (convertibles to be precise). Mom was so very nice to me right from the beginning. She was always calling me cute or her little man. So many people called me cute that for the first six months of my life, I actually thought it was my name! We live in a sleepy little beach town north of San Diego called Del Mar. It is so pretty here and there are lots of places for Mom and me to walk and explore. In fact, we take a long walk every morning and every night averaging between 3 to5 miles per day. I love walking and I especially love meeting new people. We stop and chat with every dog person we see. Sometimes Mom talks too long and I have to lie down to show her that I’m bored( she eventually gets the hint). Once in a while I am not in the mood to walk so I turn and sit down facing home. This trick usually makes Mom laugh and say “okay you obviously have had enough”. She is good like that. I love the fact that we know pretty much all the dog people in a 10 mile radius of home. Mom always says she never worries about me getting lost because everyone knows me. I actually won “Pet of the month” at our condo complex this past September (I hear it was a landslide).
In addition to my walks, I usually go the dog park in the late afternoon and meet my pal Luther. He is the best! We love to wrestle, chase and generally cause trouble. His wrinkly face is great to chew on and we usually end up with me standing upright under Luther for a short rest break. This always makes Mom and my Aunt Carey laugh, but they haven’t yet captured that poise on camera (they keep on trying though)!
I am so lucky that I get out so much. Mom actually says that I am the most spoiled dog on the planet or at least in San Diego. Mom is also always saying that she wants to come back as a dog in Southern California and live the good life. I have no idea what she is talking about, this life seems pretty great to me. Do you think I’m spoiled?
